Mark’s Trains miniature loudspeaker for sound decoders, measures 16 (L) x 9 (W) x 6.5 (D) mm with 3D printed baffle. These speakers are manufactured from the highest quality driver units, with solder tabs for ease of installation which also prevent shorts against a metal chassis (when compared to spring contacts).

Sugar-cube Speakers General
Sugar-cubes and Micro-cubes will produce good sound levels whether located in an enclosed space or exposed on the floor of a cab. Just make sure to locate the speaker with the driver unit (metal part) facing up if on the floor or down if stuck to an upper roof with black tack and ensure no live chassis parts can come into contact with the speaker terminals as this will cause a short damaging the sound circuits on the decoder. It is in fact possible to wrap the whole speaker with Kapton tape or heat shrink tubing to prevent shorting and there is little or no reduction in sound depth and quality as a result.
