The scene is set in 1964 at Crewe North, the Duchess engine depicted is coming to the end of her working life. Also shown in this painting are Ivatt 2-6-2 41272 the 7000th loco built at Crewe and Black 5 – 45000.
This painting won the George Busby Award for best water-based painting at the Guild of Railway Artists 2016 exhibition.
